Blanket Synchronicity

For the past couple of days I’ve been doing a little makeover to my apartment- new curtains, new pillows for my couch- little changes that make a big difference. And I was considering replacing some of my old throw blankets with newer, brighter ones to match the other new items.

My reasonable self bullied its way into my mental conversation with my creative self and said, “But why would you get rid of perfectly good blankets? That’s a waste.” So I didn’t.

The next day I was at home doing some stretches when my doorbell rang. There on the other side of the screen stood a woman. Early 30’s, thin, curly dark, short hair, clean but it looked as if she could be possibly having a mental health crisis. Her eyes were red. She appeared to be a bit distressed.

Great! Why me?! I thought.

“Hi, can I help you?”

“Hi, um excuse me, my boyfriend kicked me out and took my jackets and blanket. Would you happen to have a jacket or blanket?”

I was momentarily stunned. Here I was worrying about throwing blankets away and then this person showed up out of nowhere on Easter Sunday. Was God playing Resource Management Coordinator?

“Do you want it back when I’m done borrowing it?” She asked as if she was a neighbor borrowing a piece of Tupperware.

“No, I bequest it solely to you.”

She giggled and left.

Was this a moment of synchronicity? A moment where I was able to not only witness some higher power at work, but also come to realize that I was a cog in the mechanism of that work?

What do you think? Have you ever had a similar experience?
