Breathe
We can’t
The virus
has masked our emotions
coughs come as bites
our chests they chew
Fear has taken root
And a knee to the neck
extinguishes life
and starts revolutions
we watch
as June locusts erupt from
earthly cocoons
Billions swarm
skies and streets covered
with their cries
crunch crunch
underfoot as we walk
to get commodities
Why go outside?
To gasp at
A Saharan dust storm
barreling towards North America
“I can’t breath”
the national motto
of 2020
